Asterix & Obelix - On behalf of Her Majesty (original title: Astérix et Obélix: Au Service de Sa Majesté ) is the fourth real-life adaptation of the Asterix comic series from 2012 . Directed by Laurent Tirard . The main role of Obelix was played by Gérard Depardieu , as in the first three real-life adaptations , while the role of Asterix was newly cast with Édouard Baer . The film was released in German cinemas on October 18, 2012. The Concorde film was shot in 3D . It is essentially based on the two comic books Asterix bei den Briten and Asterix und die Normannen , which were made into a cartoon in 1986 and 2006 respectively.
action
Caesar launches an invasion of Britain. The Queen fears that the Romans, who are now bombing the village, will not be able to withstand much longer and therefore sends a fax to Gaul. There a small village is said to still defy Caesar's attempts at conquest. This village is the village of Asterix and Obelix, who have the task of turning Majestix's nephew, Grautvornix, into a real man. The two see this as good practice for Grautvornix, and so they take him to Britain to bring a keg of their magic potion, which gives superhuman powers, to the village of Teefax.
Differences Between Comics and Film
- In the comic, Asterix is not looking for a bride
- In the comic, the British village is headed by a man (Sebigbos) - in the film, a reference to the current monarchy under Queen Elisabeth.
- In the comic, Asterix and Teefax are cousins , in the film they have never met before.
- In the comic, Asterix brought the herbs he sells to the British as a magic potion from Gaul. In the film, he receives these from an Indian immigrant, similar to the accompanying cartoon (there Asterix received the herbs from a Phoenician trader).
- Teefax has a fiancée in the film, but not in the comic.
- In the comic, the Normans start an expedition to Gaul to get to know fear, in the film they travel to Britain to work as Caesar's mercenary. As payment, they demand that you teach them to fear. In both variants, they take the saying " fear gives you wings " literally.
- The Normans experience fear in both comics and films. In the comic they are afraid of the singing of the Gallic bard Troubadix, in the film they are afraid that Miss Macintosh will raise them to be British gentlemen. In both versions, they then plunge off a cliff.
Reviews
"Entertaining real-life film based on the comic book" Asterix bei den Briten ", the humor of which is more based on the original than on the plaintive previous films. Even if the film misses out on some of the gimmicks of the original in favor of less successful new inventions, it impales national idiosyncrasies in a satirical and amusing way, as does the tense relationship between the British and the French. "
“[T] he fourth real-life film in the series is a complete disappointment. Even the most fashionable 3D effects don't help. [...] The usual knockers and wild boar jokes come about, but they have gotten pretty worn out over the years. [...] Conclusion: Öder Asterix film with annoying pubertal dialogue passages, shallow slapstick gags and unimaginative film parodies. "
The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
