Ato Essilfi Bracato Essandoh (born July 29, 1972 in Schenectady , New York ) is an American actor of Ghanaian descent.

life and career

Ato Essandoh was born to Ghanaian parents in Schenectady , later graduated from high school in New Rochelle and subsequently studied chemical engineering , which he successfully completed with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University . He also studied acting at the Acting Studio in New York City .

He has been an actor since 2001. At first he mainly appeared as a guest actor in US series such as Third Watch - Einsatz am Limit or Welcome, Mrs. President and took on small supporting roles in films, for example in Garden State or Hitch - The Date Doctor . Other film supporting roles followed in Blood Diamond , Rodanthe , Get Him or as a slave D'Artagnan in Django Unchained , is torn brutally from a pack of dogs.
