The foreign trade Austria (official spelling AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA , in Germany Austrian trade delegation , otherwise international Advantage Austria ) is the internationalization and innovation agency of the Austrian economy with headquarters in Vienna and offices in around 100 cities worldwide.
From an organizational point of view, it is a department of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce . It is responsible for the implementation of the legal mandate for foreign trade s promotion in Austria. The offices abroad maintain contacts with the authorities and other public bodies in the respective countries in which they are active and establish contacts between Austrian companies and potential customers in the respective country.
Tasks and organization
The primary task is to support Austrian companies in their foreign business by providing advice and information. For this purpose, Außenwirtschaft Austria operates a worldwide network of representative offices. Since January 2011, these offices abroad have been called Foreign Trade Centers and Foreign Trade Offices (formerly: foreign trade offices or branches) and are managed by business delegates (formerly: trade delegates) or deputy business delegates.
The economic delegates are accredited as diplomats in most of the host countries, the foreign trade centers are protocols attached to the respective embassies (typically the trade department of the Austrian embassy ).
Michael Otter, who succeeded Walter Koren, has been the director since September 2017.
Foreign trade Austria operates under the brand name Advantage Austria . Until June 21, 2012 the official brand name was Aussenwirtschaft Austria .
