August Christoph Heinrich von Legat

August Christoph Heinrich von Legat (born August 4, 1732 in Magdeburg , † January 12, 1816 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

He was a member of a Magdeburg - Anhalt noble family . His parents were the councilor of Staßfurt and captain a. D. Gottlieb von Legat (1714–1791) and Johanna Charlotte von Münchow and von Bosen (1708–1793).

Legat married NN Silvin (1733–1823), no children are known.

military service

Legat began his career in the Prussian army in 1851 as a private corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 25 , where he was promoted to ensign in 1756 . He participated with the regiment in the Seven Years' War , in particular the battles of Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf and Torgau as well as the sieges of Prague , Ölmütz and Schweidnitz . Before Kolin, Leuthen and Torgau he was wounded.

He was promoted to second lieutenant in 1758 , prime lieutenant in 1762 , staff captain in 1766 and real captain and company commander in 1774 . Legat took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession before being transferred as a major to Garrison Regiment No. 2 in 1783 and finally commander of the Fusilier Battalion No. 20 in 1787 . In 1790 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel .

During the First Coalition War , he received his promotion to colonel in 1793 and the order Pour le Mérite for his service in the battle near Limbach .

1797 legacy still commander was the third Musketeer - Battalion in . Infantry Regiment # 32 . In February 1804 he received his departure . In December of the same year he was given the character of major general and 600 thalers pension . Legat died in Berlin and was buried in the garrison cemetery.
