Bagmati ( Nepali बागमती अञ्चल Bāgmatī añcal ) was one of the 14 former administrative zones in Nepal . It was named after the Bagmati River.

It was in the central development region . In the area is u. a. also the Kathmandu valley , in which 2.5 million people live.

Bagmati was divided into eight districts:

Through the constitution of September 20, 2015 and the resulting reorganization of Nepal into provinces, the districts of this zone were assigned to the newly created Province No. 3. Province No. 3 was also named Bagmati in 2020.
