The Stuttgart Stadtmitte train station is a traffic junction in Stuttgart .
It is located in the western area of downtown Stuttgart in the Stuttgart-Mitte district and has exits to Rotebühlplatz and Büchsenstraße .
Operationally, the station is a stop of the S-Bahn , which is located under Theodor-Heuss-Straße . A transition to the Rotebühlplatz stop of the Stadtbahn is possible, also to SSB bus lines . The station is in the VVS .

Train
The underground station Stadtmitte of the S-Bahn, which opened on October 1, 1978, has two tracks and is located in the tunnel of the connecting railway . The two tracks are connected by a 210 m long central platform . The seven lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6 and S60 operate at the stop, as well as the S11 stadium amplifier for home games of VfB Stuttgart . Track 1 is assigned to the S-Bahn in the direction of Schwabstraße , and track 2 to the S-Bahn in the direction of the main station . Neighboring stations are in the direction of Schwabstrasse, the Feuersee stop , and in the opposite direction, Stuttgart Central Station.

The platform area was established between 1972 and 1975 as a shelter MZA S-Bahn station Stadtmitte . In the event of a crisis, it should offer protection to 4,500 people. On April 16, 2014, the shelter was de-dedicated .

The stop at Rotebühlplatz (city center) is the last underground stop of the Stuttgart city railway to be in operation.
Between September 2014 and December 2019, the name of the stop was due to the shopping center Das Gerber Rotebühlplatz (Das Gerber), which opened on September 23, 2014 .

Rotebühlpassage
The Rotebühlpassage under the square of the same name also belongs to the structure. The passage connects the stops of the S-Bahn and the light rail. It houses kiosks and bakeries. The SSB operate a customer center in the passage.
The Rotebühlpassage merges seamlessly into the passage below the City Plaza . Escalators take you directly to the TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz on Fritz-Elsas-Straße. The Rotebühlpassage was connected to the adjacent Calwer Passage via short escalators until 2019; but then that shopping arcade with surrounding commercial buildings was demolished.
