The 36th Bavaria Tour took place from May 13th to May 17th, 2015. The category 2nd HC cycling race was held in five stages, including an individual time trial , over a total of 830.6 kilometers. The Briton Alex Dowsett of the Movistar Team also won the overall standings after his victory in the time trial. John Degenkolb won the sprint classification, Frederik Veuchelen the mountain classification. The Cannondale-Garmin team won the team classification .

The first stage, which started in Regensburg and ran over 221.3 km, was won by Irishman Sam Bennett (Team Bora-Argon 18 ) in Waldsassen in the sprint ahead of Nacer Bouhanni (Team Cofidis, Solutions Crédits ) and John Degenkolb ( Team Giant-Alpecin ).
The second stage, which started in Waldsassen and ran over 179.5 km, was won by John Degenkolb in the sprint in Selb ahead of Nacer Bouhanni and Enrique Sanz ( Movistar Team ). As on the previous day, the second stage was dominated by a top group of six for a long time.
In the third stage over 205.9 km, which led from Selb via Mödlareuth past the former inner-German border to Ebern , Sam Bennett won the sprint ahead of Nacer Bouhanni and Ramūnas Navardauskas ( Cannondale-Garmin team ).
The hour record holder Alex Dowsett from the Movistar Team took the lead in the overall standings with his victory in the time trial . He won the 26.1-kilometer route in 31: 33.15 minutes with a narrow 1.45-second lead over the Portuguese Tiago Machado from the Katusha team. Third was the Czech Jan Bárta from the Bavarian team Bora-Argon 18 .
John Degenkolb won the fifth and final stage of the 2015 Bayern Tour over 197.8 km in the sprint ahead of Rüdiger Selig from the Katusha team and Sam Bennett. In the meantime, a breakaway group had a lead of between two and three minutes over the peloton and was only overtaken on the final circuit in Nuremberg's old town.
Overall rating
After his victory in the time trial, the Briton Alex Dowsett from the Movistar Team also won the overall ranking of the Bayern Tour with a two-second lead over the Portuguese Tiago Machado from the Katusha team. As in 2013, the Czech Jan Bárta from the Bavarian team Bora-Argon 18 came third in the overall ranking .
The sprint classification was won by John Degenkolb (Team Giant-Alpecin) ahead of Eduard Worganow (Team Katusha) and Sam Bennett (Team Bora-Argon 18). The mountain classification was won by Frederik Veuchelen (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) ahead of Simone Antonini (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) and Louis Meintjes (MTN Qhubeka). Dylan van Baarle (Team Cannondale-Garmin) won the junior competition ahead of Nils Politt (Team Stölting) and Jasha Sütterlin (Movistar Team).
In the team classification, the Cannondale-Garmin team won ahead of the Movistar team and the Katusha team .
