Adolf Bernhard Theodor von Lindern (born October 18, 1813 in Rosenthal , † May 11, 1901 in Gotha ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of the Westphalian captain Karl von Lindern and his wife Sophie Franzis, née von Doetinchem .

Military career

On April 1, 1831, Lindern joined the 11th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a hussar . There he was promoted to Portepeefähnrich in the following year and to Second Lieutenant on January 14, 1834 . From 1839 to 1848 Lindern acted as regimental adjutant and in the meantime became Prime Lieutenant on April 13, 1847 . In 1848 he took a leave of absence in order to take part in the fighting against Denmark . Lindern was then employed as a captain in the 2nd Schleswig-Holstein dragoon regiment and participated in the battles at Skodberg , Sommerstedt and Kieltrup. Already on October 14, 1848, Lindern resigned from services in Schleswig-Holstein and was again employed as a prime lieutenant in the 11th Hussar Regiment. In the course of the suppression of revolutionary unrest , he and his regiment were deployed in the street fighting in Iserlohn in 1849 . This was followed by the battles at Ladenburg , Bischweier and Hirschgrund and the siege of Rastatt during the campaign in Baden . For his achievements, Lindern received the Red Eagle Order IV. Class with Swords and the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion .

In 1849/50 he worked as an adjutant of the 13th Cavalry Brigade and in the same capacity at the General Command of the II Army Corps of the Army of Operations on the Rhine . In 1850/51 he was employed as an adjutant of the 7th Cavalry Division and in 1851/52 as an adjutant at the High Command of the Federal Corps in Frankfurt am Main . Lindern returned to his regular regiment on June 22, 1852 with his promotion to Rittmeister and was appointed squadron chief on September 14, 1852 . From May 7, 1857 he was adjutant at the General Command of the VII Army Corps , was transferred to Potsdam on June 1, 1858 as a major and shortly afterwards as a regular staff officer in the Guard Hussar Regiment . During the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War , Lindern was given the command of the 2nd Leib-Hussar Regiment in Posen in June 1859 . Even after the demobilization , he remained in charge of the leadership and was finally appointed regimental commander on July 24, 1861. In this position, promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861 , Lindern became commander of the King's Hussar Regiment (1st Rheinisches) No. 7 in Bonn on September 4, 1864 . As such, he was promoted to colonel on June 18, 1865 . The following year, Lindern and his regiment took part in the battles at Hühnerwasser , Münchengrätz and Königgrätz during the war against Austria .

After the peace treaty , Lindern was appointed commander of Erfurt on March 5, 1867 under position à la suite of his regiment . In the same capacity, he was transferred to Breslau on July 14, 1868 and promoted to major general on June 18, 1869 and lieutenant general on September 2, 1873. On the occasion of the festival of the Order, Lindern was awarded the star on January 18, 1875 for his long service Red Eagle Order II. Class awarded with oak leaves and swords. In approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposal on March 11, 1875 with the statutory pension .

family

Lindern married Auguste Freiin von Münchhausen (1844–1923) on June 9, 1862 in Posen . The marriage remained childless.
