Blumau is a locality in the Ybbstal Alps in Upper Austria's Ennstal in Upper Austria as well as cadastral municipality of the municipality of Maria Neustift in the Steyr-Land district .

geography

The place is located around 15 kilometers southeast of Steyr , northwest of Maria Neustift , right on the Lower Austrian border. The scattered settlement Blumau is at 460- 710  m above sea level. A. Höhe left (west) in the Kleinramingtal on the upper Ramingbach , which forms the Grenzbach here and goes to the Enns in Steyr . It extends on the northern slope of the Spadenberg  ( 1000  m above sea level ) and is somewhat remote from the rest of the community, which opens up to the Ennstal near Großraming .

The location includes around 110 addresses with around 400 residents, almost half of them in Sulzbach am Ramingbach, the rest scattered in the valley and on the mountain slopes. The corresponding cadastral community Blumau has 1,096  hectares .

history

In 1280 the Neustift area became a free office of the Garsten Benedictine Abbey . The place is documented as early as 1313 with 5 houses. The population is growing steadily, Sulzbach is a new formation from the late 19th century. The independent village has not been run since the beginning of the 2000s.
