history

Bortenberg was first mentioned in a document on May 1st, 1000. In this by Emperor Otto III. The sealed certificate was awarded to the Würzburg bishop Heinrich der Wildbann over the forest belonging to the castellum Bernheim and Villa Liuthereshusun . Bortenberg was named there as the twelfth border point.

Bortenberg was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 there were 10 properties (1 courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 7 estates). The village and community rulership was held by the Sulz monastery administrator , which was also the sole landlord of all properties. By the end of the Old Kingdom nothing had changed in the circumstances. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .

With the community edict (early 19th century), Bortenberg was assigned to the tax district of Dombühl and the rural community of Kloster Sulz . In the course of the regional reform , Bortenberg was incorporated into Dombühl on April 1, 1971.
