history

Towards the end of the 13th century, the local noble lords of Bellnhausen built a small tower castle (Motte) on a mound of earth surrounded by a moat. 1351 they carried Belnhus the Counts of Ziegenhain to feudal and received it as Burglehen back; a new loan took place in 1405. Around 1432 Engelbrecht von Bellnhausen sold his part (a quarter) of Bellnhausen Castle with all its accessories to Count Johann II von Ziegenhain; this part fell to the Landgraviate of Hesse after Johann's death in 1450 . The Lords of Bellnhausen were announced for the last time in 1556, and the remaining three quarters of the Castle and Gut Bellnhausen were inherited by Reinhard Schenk, who in 1564 also acquired the former goat grove with permission from the Landgrave of Hessen. From 1623 the Bellnhausen court was lent to Dietrich von Werder and from 1671 to 1752 to the Lords of Baumbach .

The castle complex is mentioned as dilapidated as early as the 17th century. In the 18th or early 19th century it was demolished because it was dilapidated.
