Burgküppel is an abandoned hilltop castle of the type of a tower hill castle (Motte) in the district of Röllshausen , a district of the community Schrecksbach in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district .

The castle hill, rampart and moat can still be seen today, all overgrown with light forest. It is located about 2 km east of Röllshausen on the 300.1 m high hill of the same name, which rises about 50 m above the valley floor. To the north, the K 112 district road runs from Röllshausen to Immichenhain , and to the east the L 3156 road runs from Schrecksbach to Neukirchen .

When the moth was built is uncertain. It is mentioned in 1324, when the Lords of Rückershausen , as the Fulda feudal owners, court lords in Röllshausen, ceded their rights to the castle hill and the associated grove to the Haina monastery , which had been very determined to expand its property in and around Röllshausen since 1261 at the latest. The castle was probably given up in the 13th century.
