Club Baloncesto Valladolid is a Spanish basketball club from the Castilian provincial capital Valladolid . The first team plays in the Spanish ACB league . The home games are played in the 6311-seat Pabellón Polideportivo Pisuerga .
history
The club was founded in 1976 and took over the license of the financially troubled, also based in Valladolid, club ADC Castilla , which had reached promotion to the first division in the preseason .
Already in the first season there was relegation to the Segunda División by the eleventh and penultimate place in the league . After two years in the second division, the 1979/80 season rose again. This year CB Valladolid also had its first appearance in an international competition when they failed in the Korać Cup 1979/80 in the round of eight. In 1983 the club was one of the founding members of the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto , which from then on directed the operations of the ACB League . With the exception of one year in the Liga Española de Baloncesto in the 2008/09 season, the club is no longer relegated from the first division.
Although CB Valladolid is one of the teams with the most seasons in the ACB league, the successes have so far failed to materialize. The best international result came at the Korać Cup in 1991/92, when the Castilians failed in the semi-finals after two legs with 142: 137 at the eventual winner Messaggero Virtus Roma . Nationally, the club reached the semi-finals for the Spanish Cup three times (1984/85, 1987/88 and 1997/98) and four times the quarter-finals in the play-off for the championship (1989/90, 1990/91, 1991/92 and 2000 / 01).
