Calauan is a municipality in the Philippines in the province of Laguna .
The name of the place is derived from the expression kalawang , which means rust. Calauan is known for its pineapple festival that takes place every May. Access to Hidden Valley Springs - Resort , a resort with hot springs , although located in the neighboring Alaminos , but the resort is located within the boundaries of Calauan.
There is a campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in the community .
