Biñan City ( Tagalog : Lungsod ng Biñan ) is a Filipino Component City in the province of Laguna , in the administrative region IV, Calabarzon. It has 333,028 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 24 barangays . It is classified as the first income class community in the Philippines and highly urbanized . Biñan was already 1571 by Juan de Salcedo founded, only a month after the founding of Manila by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi .

Biñan City is located in the northwest of the Laguna Province, on the largest freshwater lake in the Philippines, the Laguna de Bay . The neighboring communities are San Pedro in the northwest, Santa Rosa City in the south, Carmona and General Mariano Alvarez in the west. The topography of the city is characterized by extensive flatlands , which take up over 86% of the city area. The city is located approx. 40 km south of the metropolitan area Metro Manila and can be reached via the South Luzon Expressway. Since 2010 there has also been a train connection to Tutuban Central Station in Manila, it is offered by the Philippine National Railways .

climate

The climate of Biñan City is characterized by a separation into a dry and rainy season. The dry season begins in November and ends in April, the rest of the year is characterized by regular rainfall, which is most pronounced in June and July. Biñan City lies within the Philippine typhoon belt , but is protected by the high mountain ranges of the Sierra Madre .
