Calisto dos Santos Coli (born August 10, 1959 in Darulete , Liquiçá , Portuguese Timor ), battle name Coliati , is an East Timorese officer. Coliati has the rank of colonel.

Career

Coliati is the son of Lucia da Jesus Martins and has three brothers and two sisters.

From 1967 to 1971 he attended the Colégio Infante de Sagres in Maliana , which was followed by the Eskola Industrial e Comercial Professor Silva Cunha in Dili , a course in civil engineering. and the Esola Economi Menengah Atas in Vila de Liquiçá . After the war Coliati attended the Faculty of International Relations of the Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ) in Dili. In 2003 Coliati attended a leadership course in Canungra ( Queensland , Australia ) and from July 2004 to December 2005 he completed a post-doctoral degree at the Australian Command and Staff College of the University of Wollongong in defense management and in 2008 studies on security strategies in Hawaii . In 2009 a course for UN military observers followed in Malaysia and in 2012 a course in strategy and leadership in Indonesia.

After the attempted coup by the UDT in Portuguese Timor on August 11, 1975, a civil war broke out between the UDT and FRETILIN . In September, Coliati joined the Forças Armadas de Libertação Nacional de Timor-Leste (FALINTIL) in Darulete, the military arm of FRETILIN, and participated in the operation against the Fazenda Algarve , the family plantation of the Carrascalão brothers , which is part of the UDT leadership belonged. Then his unit moved to Dili. In 1976 Indonesia began the occupation of East Timor , against which the FALINTIL fought. On September 13, 1994, he was appointed Regional Secretary (ODIR) in Liquiçá by Nino Konis Santana and in 1998, at a meeting of the resistance in Viqueque, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of Region 4, responsible for political and military affairs on the southern border with Indonesia .

In 1999 the Indonesians withdrew from East Timor and the country came under the administration of the United Nations. Coliati became FALINTIL's official liaison officer for the International Armed Forces East Timor (INTERFET) in the western sector, then assistant to the FALINTIL secretary in camp Aileu , one of four camps where FALINTIL fighters were assembled in preparation for the peace treaty. Coliati later became assistant to the director for the first recruitment for the Defense Forces East Timor (F-FDTL) in Aileu.

In 2002 Coliati became chief of operations in the F-FDTL's first battalion in Lospalos . From 2003 to 2004 he was the second in command of the training center in Metinaro and from 2006 the chief of operations at the general headquarters, with the rank of major. During the state of emergency in February 2008 after the attack in Dili , Coliati was appointed Joint Operation Commander of Operation Halibur to fight the rebels . Until 2014, he was Lieutenant Colonel in command of the Land Forces (Componente Terrestre) stationed in Baucau . From June 2014 to July 2018, Coliati, now with the rank of colonel, was a military attaché at the East Timorese embassy in Canberra ( Australia ). As early as 2016 he was supposed to become the deputy commander of the F-FDTL. However, this proposal was not implemented. Instead, on October 27, 2018, Coliati was appointed the new chief of staff, succeeding Falur Rate Laek , who became the F-FDTL's deputy commander in chief.

Coliati is among other things the holder of the Medalha Halibur .
