Carlo Rambaldi (born September 15, 1925 in Vigarano Mainarda , Province of Ferrara , † August 10, 2012 in Lamezia Terme , Calabria ) was an Italian specialist in mask effects in film .

Career

Rambaldi is internationally known for his masks and dolls for the films Alien - The uncanny creature from a strange world and ET - The extraterrestrial , for which he won two Oscars for the best visual effects and the Special Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was awarded. He also received the Saturn Award for the effects in ET , as well as a Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award (Special Award) without a specific film being named.

For the 1986 made film King Kong Lives, however, Rambaldi was nominated for the negative award Golden Raspberry in the worst special effects category.
