history

The Cessna Citation Excel (also Cessna 560XL ) was presented for the first time in October 1994. The prototype was built in February 1995 and flew for the first time on February 29, 1996. Approval followed in April 1998 and delivery of the first models began just a few months later. The body of the Citation Excel is based on a template that was also used for the Citation X , III, VI and VII models.

In August 2000, Cessna sold the 100th model. At that time, a new aircraft was leaving the production halls every three days.

The latest variant of this type, Citation XLS +, received its approval from the FAA on May 30, 2008. It was approved in Europe in 2009. It has modern avionics with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 and a FADEC system for engine control. In addition, the interior design was changed. The first delivery should take place in 2008. So far (as of the end of 2008) there have been 225 orders for the Citation XLS +.
