Charles Daniels (swimmer)
Charles Meldreum Daniels (born March 24, 1885 in Dayton , Ohio , † August 8, 1973 in Carmel Valley Village , California ) was an American swimmer .
At the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis , he won three gold medals. He won over 220 yards and 440 yards, as well as with the 4 × 50-yard relay of the Americans. He also won silver over 100 yards freestyle and bronze over 50 yards. At the Olympic Intermediate Games in 1906 , he won the 100 meters. In his second "official" participation in the 1908 Olympic Games , he was able to become Olympic champion in the 100 m freestyle and win bronze with the 4 × 200 m relay.
In 1965 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
