Choking on Illusions was a melodic hardcore band from Saarbrücken that existed from 2008 to 2015 .

history

Choking on Illusions was founded in Saarbrücken in 2008 and, after several line-up changes, consists of singer Mario Strasser, bassist Christian Pontes, drummer Dustin Ueckert and the two guitarists Jannik Aulenbacher and Maciej Spiczak.

The first publication took place in the founding year in the form of an EP, which was named after the band. In 2010 a demo with two songs was released. In the summer of 2012 the debut album Guide Me Home was released and at the end of the year an EP with Revive followed with three tracks, which can be downloaded free of charge from the band's official website. The band is currently in the studio to work on their second album, which will be released in 2014. The first single, Borderlines , was officially released on June 1, 2014 on Youtube .

From June 4th to 14th, 2012 the group played their first national concert tour with The Green River Burial , which led to Germany , France , Austria and Luxembourg , among others . In 2013 the group played at the Phoenix Festival in Weinheim , where Deadlock and Final Prayer also performed. Choking on Illusions was booked as a replacement for Second Aid, which had to cancel an appearance at the festival. Between February 28, 2014 and March 15, 2014 the group played a co-headlining European tour with the British hardcore band Seasons in Wreckage , which took them through Germany , Belgium , Poland , the Czech Republic , the Netherlands and Switzerland . In Trier , the tour crossed with two other concert tours, so that eight bands could be seen that evening, including Coldburn , Counterparts , Hundredth and Being as an Ocean . On June 21, 2014 the group played for the first time at the Summerblast Festival . There Choking on Illusions could be seen on the indoor stage with Science Of Sleep , Wolf Down , Heart in Hand and Brutality Will Prevail, among others. Six days later the group performed for the first time at the Mair1 Festival . There the group could be seen at the Painstage , where The Charm the Fury could also be seen on the same day . The group has also played in the opening act for Vanna , His Statue Falls , Buried in Verona , Liferuiner , Stick to Your Guns , First Blood , Nasty , La Dispute and Evergreen Terrace .

In January 2015 the group announced that they had signed with Bastardized Recordings and wanted to release their second studio album Rest / less with the record company. This album should be released at the end of March. In the same statement, the group also announced that they would take a break of indefinite length after a few tours. The album was released on March 27, 2015.

style

Andreas Steiner from Stageload is of the opinion that it is difficult to classify the music of Choking on Illusions precisely. He describes the music as experimental, somewhere between post-hardcore and modern hardcore . According to Clement from the Allschools Network , the band's music ranges between "inimitable The Carrier melody and aggressive comeback kid attacks".
