Chris Stapleton
Chris Stapleton (born April 15, 1978 in Lexington , Kentucky ; full name Christopher Alvin Stapleton ) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist and five-time Grammy Award winner.
Career
Chris Stapleton grew up in the Kentucky countryside in the village of Staffordsville. At the age of 23 he went to Nashville to start a career as a country musician. At first he was only under contract as a songwriter. Over the years he developed into a very successful songwriter, he wrote for many well-known musicians such as George Strait , Kenny Chesney , Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw . Even Adele made a recording of his song If It Hadn't Been for Love as a bonus track in 2011 .
He had his first success as a musician in 2008 with the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers . Their debut album with the band name as the title was successful in the bluegrass and country charts and they received a Grammy nomination for the song Blue Side of the Mountain . Before the release of a second album, however, Stapleton left the band and formed a southern rock band with the Jompson Brothers . However, it only lasted three years and he began a solo career after that. With his debut single What Are You Listening To? he had a minor radio success with the country stations in 2013.
In 2015 his solo debut album Traveler was released . Despite critical acclaim, the great commercial success initially failed to materialize. 14th place in the official album charts was the best place in the spring. It was only when Stapleton surprisingly became the big winner at the CMA Awards and was awarded not only the prize for the best album, but also the best newcomer and the best singer, that the country fans immediately became successful. The album rose to number 1 on both the country and the official charts, selling over two million copies ( double platinum ). The single Tennessee Whiskey was also a million-seller and a country number one hit. Seven other singles also made it into the country charts. He was nominated four times at the 2016 Grammy Awards , including in the Album of the Year category . He eventually won two country awards for the album and the single Traveler .
Also in 2018 he was the most successful country musician at the Grammys. With the album From A Room (Volume 1) and the songs Either Way and Broken Halos , he won three of the four awards in the country division.
