Christoph Adams

Christoph Adams (born April 19, 1965 in Wittlich ) is a German jazz pianist .

Live and act

Adams studied jazz since 1986 at the Cologne University of Music with Frank Wunsch , John Taylor and Jiggs Whigham . Between 1995 and 1998 he lived in Malta and since then in Berlin. In 1986 he founded his first bands with Pepe Berns , Dietmar Fuhr , Christian Ramond , Reinhard Kobialka , Uwe Ecker , Peter Kahlenborn , John Schröder and Steve Argüelles . In 1992 he brought Ed Schuller and Ernst Bier into his trio, which also toured as Perry Robinson's quartet at times . Later on, Felix Astor and Paulo Cardoso and Carlos Bica respectively belonged to the trio that has been traveling with Paul Kleber and Astor under the name Trio'68 since 2004 . The trio was temporarily expanded to include small wind ensembles, including Sebastian Studnitzky , Nikolaus Neuser , Tilmann Dehnhard , Falk Breitkreuz , Gebhard Ullmann , Samon Kawamura and Jan von Klewitz . He also performed with Woody Shaw , Lew Soloff , Till Brönner and with Fred Kellner and the famous Soulsisters , Gitte Hænning , Lisa Bassenge , Pe Werner and Jazzanova .

According to Tom Lord , Adams was involved in ten jazz recordings between 1991 and 2008, including with Reiner Witzel ( Passage to the Ear ) and Perry Robinson ( Still Traveling ). In 2001 he received the Bernkastel-Wittlich district's cultural sponsorship award . He also has a teaching position at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .
