City Airline was a Swedish airline based in Gothenburg and most recently a subsidiary of Skyways Express .

history

City Airline was founded in 1997 and initially worked for British Midland before setting up its own European route network from its home airport in Gothenburg / Landvetter in September 2001 . City Airline's strategy was to identify airports between well-known large airports and thus to be able to fly to new destinations non-stop. Since April 1, 2006, City Airline and SAS have been working together to credit bonus miles .

In April 2011 it was announced that City Airline had been bought by Skyways Express and will be integrated into it. This was implemented by the end of 2011 by taking over the fleet and discontinuing the City Airline's own external image. In May 2012 Skyways Express went bankrupt together with City Airline and ceased operations.

aims

City Airline served several destinations within Sweden as well as other European destinations such as Rome , Tallinn and Birmingham . There was also a code share agreement with SAS .

fleet

As of September 2011, the City Airline's fleet consisted of 14 aircraft, all of which were transferred to the fleet of the new owner Skyways Express:
