Norwegian.se (previously independent as FlyNordic ) was a Swedish low-cost airline based in Stockholm and most recently a brand of Norwegian Air Shuttle , which also operates as norwegian.com .

history

The airline was founded as Reguljair in 1996 and started operations with an Embraer EMB 110 to regional destinations. The Swedish Aviation Authority revoked the airline's license on November 14, 2000. With the new name Nordic East, dba Flynordic.com , flight operations started again on December 1, 2000.

In November 2003 Finnair took over an 85% stake in the airline. The remaining 15% was taken over in May 2004. Finnair expanded it with the new name FlyNordic to become a low-cost airline for northern European traffic. The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft were formerly part of the Finnair fleet and have been leased from it. At the same time, the subsidiary Nordic Airlink was founded . However, in 2005 Finnair announced the bankruptcy of the airline, but operations were continued with the subsidiary Nordic Airlink . At that time the company had around 240 employees.

On April 24, 2007, Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that it had fully acquired FlyNordic. On March 14, 2007, Norwegian Air Shuttle decided that FlyNordic would no longer be run as an independent company, but would be integrated into the parent company on April 5, 2008 and operated under the norwegian.se brand . This meant the final end of FlyNordic as a company with its own flight operations. The norwegian.se brand is also no longer used in favor of the uniform norwegian.com .

aims
