Trafik-Tourist-Transportflyg ( also AB TTT or AB T-Flyg) was a Swedish charter airline with headquarters in Stockholm and Östersund .

history

Trafik-Turist-Transportflyg (TTT) was founded in 1946 and was geared towards charter flights. She bought a brand new Bristol 170 Freighter Mk XI (serial number 12792), which was delivered on August 4, 1947 from the Bristol-Filton factory airfield via Copenhagen-Kastrup to Stockholm / Bromma , the home airport of TTT. On August 14, 1947, she was registered in Sweden with the aircraft registration SE-BNG . The machine had special equipment for de-icing in very cold weather. The aircraft did not have any color design. The only external features were its baptismal name Mercurius on the bow, which was later replaced by Flagship Ethiopia , and its registration number.

This machine was one of only three manufactured Mk XI, which compared to the basic type Mk I had an enlarged span of 32.92 meters with rounded wing tips and a larger tank capacity. It was also equipped with additional heating in the hold. One of the other two Mk XI was delivered to the South African Suidair International Airways ( ZS-BVI , Mk XIA). The other (G-AIFF) was used by the manufacturer Bristol Airplane Company for further development and test flights. After conversion to the Mk 31, it crashed on May 6, 1949 due to structural failure, killing all seven crew members.

The plane was then leased to the Ethiopian government by TTT. On September 30, 1947, the machine flew from Hässlö military airfield to Ängelholm Airport and then with several stopovers to Addis Ababa . The flight was in connection with the supply of Swedish dive bombers of the type 17 Saab to being established Ethiopian air forces . These deliveries were carried out by Carl Gustaf von Rosen and exempt personnel from the Swedish Air Force (Kungliga Flygvapen).

On the way home from Ethiopia, the plane had an accident in Italy after only three months of operation. Almost all people on board were killed (see incidents) .

Around 1951, Trafik-Turist-Transportflyg was dissolved.
