Nordic Air Sweden (formerly Air Sweden ) was a Swedish charter airline based in Umeå and based at Arvidsjaur Airport .

history

The company was founded as Air Sweden in 2009 as the successor to Nordic Airways . The first CEO of Air Sweden, Daniel Lundberg, who played a key role in the development of the airline, switched to the Swedish Moose charter airline , which was then being established at the time, but which was dissolved during the development phase.

Due to financial problems, Air Sweden's operating license was revoked on April 21, 2011 with immediate effect. The Airbus A320-200 with the registration SE-RJN was at the time in charter use for Smart Wings at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport and was no longer allowed to be used for the planned return flight to Prague . The next day the plane was returned to Prague without passengers and was temporarily parked there. Flight operations were resumed in July and extensive restructuring took place in autumn 2011.

In February 2012, a court ruled that the spring 2011 license withdrawal was lawful. The license was subsequently withdrawn again, which meant that flight operations were no longer possible. However, Air Sweden had not operated any more flights since autumn 2011.

The company resumed operations in 2012 under the name Nordic Air Sweden under new management and new headquarters in Umeå . This was made possible by the takeover of the air taxi company JE Time Sweden , which gave Nordic Air Sweden an operating license again. It was planned to use their own Airbus A320-200 aircraft for more distant holiday destinations.

In August 2013, the airline ceased its flight operations.

Destinations

Since the end of March 2013 there have been regular direct flights to London. In addition, the Swedish cities of Arvidsjaur , Gällivare and Hemavan are connected to Umeå.

fleet

As of July 2013, the Nordic Air Sweden fleet consisted of an Embraer 170 operated by Estonian Air .
