Braathens Regional Airways (from 1976 to the beginning of 2013 Golden Air , until 2015 Braathens Aviation ) is a Swedish regional airline based in Trollhättan and a subsidiary of Braganza AB . It operates ACMI services between multiple domestic destinations in Sweden for its sister company the virtual airline BRA Braathens Regional Airlines and ad hoc charter services.

history

Braathens Regional Airlines was founded on September 16, 1976 under the name Golden Air in Karlstad as an air taxi company . Operations began at the end of the 1970s with one Cessna 310 and one Cessna 402 each . In the 1980s, the company set up the first international line between Örebro via Karlstad and Oslo . At the same time, the company operated national routes from Karlstad to Linköping and to Stockholm / Bromma and Stockholm / Arlanda airports with Cessna 402, Cessna 404 and Swearingen Metro aircraft .

In January 2013, Golden Air changed its name to Braathens Aviation. The company was renamed Braathens Regional Airways in 2015 and has been using the brand name BRA in its external appearance since then, based on the Swedish word "bra", which means "good".

In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic , BRA ceased operations and filed for insolvency under self-administration.
