Fortitudo Bologna is a basketball club based in the northern Italian city of Bologna .
history
Fortitudo Bologna was founded in 1932 and for a long time remained in the shadow of local rivals Virtus Bologna .
In 1998, however, Fortitudo was able to win the first title with the Italian Cup . From 1996 to 2006 Fortitudo Bologna was also every year except 1999 in the final of the Italian championship , which has been won twice so far. Fortitudo also established itself internationally and regularly took part in the Euroleague , the final of which the club reached in the 2003/2004 season. In 2006, however, the entrepreneur Giorgio Seragnoli ended his involvement in the association, which had been an important financial basis for the successes since the mid-1990s. Fortitudo then fell into a crisis that culminated in relegation from Lega A.
In September 2012 Fortitudo was dissolved due to bankruptcy and re-established in 2013 after the bankruptcy increase in business value by the new owners with the old name and all titles won.
In the 2018/19 season he was promoted back to Serie A.
