Clive is a city (with the status " City ") in Polk County and to a lesser extent in Dallas County in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 , the city had 15,447 inhabitants, the number of which increased to 16,590 by 2013.

Clive is located in central Iowa on both sides of Walnut Creek , which over the Raccoon River and the Des Moines River to the basin of the Mississippi belongs.

Already in the 1870s there were first settlements in the area of today's city at the meeting of Walnut Creek with the railroad. In 1882 the Union Land Company continued to settle as planned.
The settlement, gradually developing into a wealthy suburb of Des Moines, was incorporated as the City of Clive in 1956 .
