Markus Schulz (born February 3, 1975 in Eschwege ) is a German DJ and music producer who lives in Miami and Berlin . He is also a US citizen.
Life
Schulz was born in Eschwege and grew up in Pirmasens . At the age of 13 he went to the USA. Markus Schulz is married and has one son.
He became known in other circles through his weekly radio show Global DJ Broadcast with well-known guest DJs such as Armin van Buuren , Above & Beyond , Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten . He mainly writes melodic pieces that can be stylistically assigned to Progressive Trance or Progressive House . Most of the tracks show a danceable and flowing four to the floor (4/4 time) rhythm. A special feature and a recurring element in Markus Schulz's music are warm, dark and atmospheric surface sounds that run through the music like a carpet. The pieces of music are produced with the Pro Tools software .
Since 2004 he has been under contract with the Armada Music label , which Armin van Buuren co-founded. Markus Schulz produces remixes for various artists of the genre , and his tracks are also edited by other DJs. He appears worldwide as a DJ in well-known clubs or at major events such as Nature One in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In the summer months he usually spins at the Armada parties in Amnesia on Ibiza with his colleague Armin van Buuren . In 2006 it reached number 19 in the “Top 100 DJ Poll” by British magazine DJ Mag , before reaching number 13 in 2007. In the following years 2008 and 2009 it reached 8th place. In 2011 it reached 9th place and 2012 13th place.
According to the US website Celebrity Net Worth , Markus Schulz is in the TOP 30 of the richest DJs in the world in 30th place with a fortune of around 2 million US dollars .
In 2013 and 2014 Schulz played in the Belgian boom in front of 180,000 visitors at the Tomorrowland festival . His set ran non-stop for over eight hours.
Coldharbour Recordings
In 2004 Markus Schulz was selected by the Armada Music label to create a new compilation series. The Coldharbour Sessions started that same year. This series was named after Schulz's production studio in London's Coldharbour Lane. Under a similar name and based on his studios, he founded the Coldharbour Recordings label in 2005 , which is a sub-label of Armada Music . His label includes Hammer & Bennett , Jose Amnesia , Niklas Harding , Shawn Mitiska and Santiago Nino , among others . In 2007 he founded Coldharbour Recordings Red as a sub-label of Coldharbour Recordings. In particular, the tracks from Schulz Sideprojects Dakota are published on this label .
