history
Combres belonged to the settlement area of the Gallic Carnutes . A first church is mentioned in a document in 1147; since the Middle Ages, the place was largely under the dominance of Nogent-le-Rotrou , the capital of the Perche .
Attractions
- Today's Église Notre-Dame dates from the 16th century and consists of a nave with an adjoining polygonal broken apse . The wooden vault , which is held together by tie rods and painted with ornaments and figures of saints, deserves special attention . The walls of the church are plastered and completely covered with joint paintings , with those in the apse arranged in a diamond shape. The apse is divided in two by a baroque rood screen with an altar and two side doors; in the rear is the sacristy.
- Just a few meters away, a figural memorial commemorates the fallen soldiers of World War I.
