It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by merging the previous municipalities of Saint-Denis-d'Authou and Frétigny , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Denis-d'Authou .

The municipality is located around 40 kilometers southwest of Chartres in the Perche Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities are: Saint-Victor-de-Buthon in the north, Montlandon in the northeast, Champrond-en-Gâtine in the east, Combres in the southeast, Thiron-Gardais in the south, Arcisses in the west and Marolles-les-Buis in the northwest.
