Czekanów (German: Schakanau ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Zbrosławice (Broslawitz) in the powiat Tarnogórski (Tarnowitz district) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

Czekanów is eight kilometers south of the municipal seat Zbrosławice , 15 kilometers southwest of the district town Tarnowskie Góry ( Tarnowitz ) and 22 kilometers northwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice ( Kattowitz ).
history
The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as Czakanow , belonged to a Herr von Raczek and was in the Tost district and had 146 inhabitants, a farm, seven farmers and 22 gardeners. In 1818 the place was mentioned as Czakanow . In 1865 Czakanau consisted of a manor and a village. The manor had been owned by the von Raczeck family since 1766. The Vorwerk Catharinenhof belonged to the estate. At that time the village had seven farmers, ten gardeners, two cottagers, one miller and 25 residents who were active in the mining industry. The inhabitants of the community were parish in Ziemientzitz and schooled in Schalscha.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 98 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 376 for membership in Poland. Schakanau remained with the German Empire . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .
In 1945 the until then German place came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Czekanów . In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship.

- The castle, originally from the 17th century, was redesigned in neo-renaissance style in 1878. During a renovation in 1964, the castle completely lost its architectural character.

The coat of arms or seal shows the Lamb of God ( Agnus Dei ) with a flag. The coat of arms indicates the Christian history of the place and its inhabitants. In the latest version it shows the lamb and the flag in silver on a blue background, the cross on the flag is red.
