Miedary (German: Miedar ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Zbrosławice (Broslawitz) in the powiat Tarnogórski (Tarnowitz district) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

geography

Miedary is located five kilometers north of the municipality Zbrosławice , eight kilometers west of the district town Tarnowskie Góry (Tarnowitz) and 29 kilometers northwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice (Katowice).

The hamlet of Kopanina (Kopanina) also belongs to Miedary .

history

The place was created in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in a document as "Modar" in 1295–1305 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (Tithe Register of the Diocese of Breslau).

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as Miedar , belonged to the Tost district and had two farms, ten farmers, 24 gardeners and 206 inhabitants. In 1818 the place was mentioned as Miedar . In 1865 Miedar consisted of a manor and a village and was located in the district of Beuthen. The manor belonged to Count Praschma auf Falkenberg. The Kopanina Vorwerk belonged to the manor. The village had nine farming jobs, 32 gardening jobs, ten cottages and a Catholic school. The church was in Broslawitz.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 65 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 232 for Poland. Miedar remained with the German Reich and was part of the Tarnowitz district until 1922 . In 1936 the place was renamed Immenwald . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Beuthen-Tarnowitz .

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was renamed Miedary and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954 the place was the seat of the municipality Miedary. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .
