history

In the 8th century, a Slavic castle wall of the Opolans was built at the Drama , an early example of the penetration of the “no man's land” in the direction of Cracow by the Silesian tribe.

The place originated in the 13th century at the latest and was first mentioned in a document in 1279. Around 1295–1305 the place was mentioned in a document as "Kamen" in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (tithe register of the Diocese of Breslau).

Karl Joseph von Strachwitz (1724-1810) bought the dominions Kamienietz and Dombrowka and was raised to the Prussian count status on July 6, 1798 in Berlin under the name Strachwitz von Groß-Zauche and Camminetz . Most recently, the estate belonged to the Counts of Stolberg-Stolberg until 1945 .

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as Kaminiz and had three outbuildings , a Catholic church, a school, ten farmers, 19 gardeners, a few cottagers and 194 residents. In 1818 the place was mentioned as Kaminietz . In 1865 Kamienietz consisted of a dominium and a church village. The Vorwerke Josephsberg and Schufeida belonged to the Dominium. The village had ten farms, 17 gardeners, four cottagers, ten chamber apartments, a manorial inn, three mills and a forge.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 146 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 218 for Poland. Kamienitz remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Dramastein . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was renamed Kamieniec and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954 and from 1973 to 1977 the place was the seat of the municipality of Kamieniec. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Tarnogórski and the new Silesian Voivodeship .
