Danilo Goffi

Danilo Goffi (born December 3, 1972 in Legnano ) is an Italian long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the marathon .

In 1991 he became European junior champion over 10,000 m . At the Half Marathon World Championships in Brussels in 1993 , he finished 63rd. Two years later at the World Half Marathon Championships in Belfort , he came in 13th and won bronze with the Italian team. In the same year he won the Venice Marathon on his debut over the 42.195 km distance . He was Italian champion and qualified for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Atlanta , where he was ninth.

In 1997 he was ninth at the Rotterdam Marathon and fourth at the World Athletics Championships in Athens . The following year he finished seventh at the CPC Loop Den Haag , third in Rotterdam and, as a silver medalist at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest, was part of an all-Italian podium that also consisted of Stefano Baldini (gold) and Vincenzo Modica (bronze). At the half marathon world championships in Uster he finished 25th.

In 1999 he finished fifth at the World Championships in Seville and eleventh at the New York City Marathon , in 2000 tenth at the London Marathon and in 2001 fourth at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio and fifth at the Berlin Marathon .

After a second place in the Turin Marathon in 2002 he was nominated for the European Championships in Munich , where he came in 13th.

Fifth place at the Milan Marathon 2003 and the Maratona di Sant'Antonio 2004 followed by a second in Venice 2004. In 2005 he won in Turin, and in 2006 he was seventh at the Hamburg Marathon and eleventh at the European Championships in Gothenburg . In 2007 he was sixth in Venice and fourth in the Florence Marathon in 2009 .

In addition to his national marathon title in 1996, he was also once Italian champion in the half marathon (1996) and over 10,000 m (1998).

Danilo Goffi is 1.73 m tall and weighs 52 kg. He is trained by Luciano Gigliotti and starts for the Carabinieri Bologna.
