The great Hörmes near Dieburg is a nature reserve in the Dieburg district in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district , southern Hesse . The wetland was placed under nature protection by ordinance of February 4, 1985.
location
“The great Hörmes” is located in the Untermainebene natural area - Gersprenz lowland north-west of Dieburg, north of state road 3094 to Messel. The reserve has a size of 13.63 hectares. It extends in a west-east direction over about 860 meters, in north-south direction over a maximum of 378 meters. The Hörmesgraben, a side stream of the Gersprenz, forms the northern border.
description
The area includes extensive reeds and sedges , wet meadows , litter meadows and areas used as hay meadows. These form a habitat for numerous endangered plant and animal species and should be preserved by placing them under protection. As plant species on the Red List grow here cotton grass , marsh orchid , Fringed Pink and Avens . The breeding birds in the reserve include snipe , gray bunting , whinchat , meadow pipit and yellow wagtail .
