The Fuchswiese near Stettbach is a nature reserve in the municipality of Seeheim-Jugenheim , district Ober-Beerbach in southern Hesse . On September 9, 2010, it was designated as a small nature reserve by the Darmstadt-Dieburg district with an area of ​​1.6 hectares. By ordinance of August 24, 2013, the protected area was expanded to around 3 hectares.

The Fuchswiese nature reserve is located northwest of the Stettbach district . The reason for protection is the preservation of the wet meadows , especially as a habitat for the species of butterflies, which are endangered in their populations, the dark blue button and the blue blue button .

These blue ants initially use the large meadow button to lay their eggs and also as a caterpillar forage plant . In autumn the young caterpillars are brought into their ant nests by knot ants , whose scent they imitate. They feed on the brood of ants until they pupate at the nest exit in spring and hatch as moths in June. In order not to endanger the development of the bluebirds, the meadows may not be mowed from June 1st to August 31st. Re-grazing of the areas is possible from October.

The fox meadow is a species-rich wet meadow, including the wasp spider .
