The Forstberg von Üeberau is a nature reserve in the districts of Ueberau (city of Reinheim ) and Groß-Bieberau in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district , southern Hesse . The protected area was designated by ordinance of October 17, 1990.

location

The Forstberg von Ueberau, a basalt knoll , is located in the Reinheimer Hügelland natural area in the unforested agricultural landscape. It is located about 1.2 kilometers northeast of Groß-Bieberau and 1.7 kilometers southwest of Reinheim -Ueberau. The reserve has a size of 30.47 hectares.

Protection purpose

With the protection of the hilltop and slope areas, the richly structured landscape with hedges , rain areas , terraces and grassland communities is to be secured. The protection applies particularly to the species-rich poor meadows and orchards , which represent habitats for rare animal and plant species. The rough meadows are to be expanded and the species-rich hedges and fringing biotopes are to be preserved through maintenance measures .

Flora and fauna

33 species of birds breed in the nature reserve, including partridge , nightingale , red-backed shrike , four warbler species and turtledove . Numerous insect species such as beetles , grasshoppers and hymenoptera colonize the structurally rich biotopes . With over 250 species, the butterflies are particularly rich in species, including the swallowtail , wall fox , checkerboard butterflies , grassland mother-of-pearl butterflies and C-butterflies . 22 moths on the Red List were also detected.

Notable plant species include vinegar rose , rapunzel bellflower , centaury , common fringed gentian (lost), rough violet , rough carnation , ball bellflower , meadow bellflower , nodular saxifrage , field yellow star and meadow sage .
