Ellen Cay has been an orphan for 18 years. Her princely father, who left her a lot of money, was murdered in a most mysterious way. Now Ellen finally wants to be certain and entrusts the gentleman detective Stuart Webbs with the clarification of this case. Webbs investigates the background and finds out that the dead man was not Ellen's father at the time, but a high-ranking Turkish official who had an accident more or less by chance. In addition, it turns out that Ellen is really a princess and that her father is still alive.

The floating raft passed the film censorship in August 1917 and was premiered on October 12, 1917 in the marble house. The four-act film was 1502 meters long and was banned from young people. In Austria, the film was announced for October 21, 1917 with a length of 1550 meters. This film is the 17th Stuart Webbs adventure.
