David "Dave" Bolland (born June 5, 1986 in Etobicoke , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Arizona Coyotes in the National Hockey League until July 2019 . However, the center has not played a competitive game since December 2015 due to injury. Bolland, who embodies the grinder type of player , won the Stanley Cup for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 and 2013 .

Career

Dave Bolland was selected as the 32nd overall player by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in the second round . From 2002 to 2006, however, the Canadian initially played for four years for the London Knights from the Ontario Hockey League . For the 2006/07 season, Bolland was first included in the squad of the Norfolk Admirals from the American Hockey League . For the then Chicago farm team , the attacker played 65 games in his first season in professional ice hockey and scored 49 points, including 17 goals. That same season he made his debut for the Blackhawks in the National Hockey League . The following season, Bolland played 39 times for the Blackhawks in the NHL and scored 17 points scorer, including four goals. He also played 16 times for Chicago's new AHL farm team, the Rockford IceHogs . In the 2009/10 season he won the Stanley Cup for the first time with Chicago , in the 2012/13 season he won the Stanley Cup for the second time and scored the decisive goal in the sixth game of the final series.

In the course of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft , he was transferred to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a second-round and fourth-round vote in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round vote in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft . There he spent the 2013/14 season , but only made 23 appearances due to an ankle injury. At the end of the season, the Maple Leafs did not extend his expiring contract. On July 1, 2014, Bolland signed a five-year contract with the Florida Panthers as a free agent . In his second season in Florida in December 2015, Bolland had been sent to the American Hockey League and, as in the two previous years, was often out due to injury. After the striker finally fulfilled two years of his $ 27.5 million contract, the Panthers tried to buy out the remaining three years of the contract . However, since Bolland did not pass the necessary medical check due to protracted back and ankle injuries, this was not possible according to the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement . Finally, on August 25, 2016, he was handed over to the Arizona Coyotes together with young player Lawson Crouse . Arizona handed over a third-round voting right in the NHL Entry Draft 2017 as well as a further success-dependent second or third-round draft right in one of the two following drafts to the Panthers. Bolland played his last NHL game in December 2015, with the possibility and timing of his recovery remaining unclear for now.

International

Dave Bolland took part in the 2006 U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship and won the gold medal with the Canadian national team.
