history

Archaeological finds prove a settlement site of the Bandkeramischen culture from the time between 5000 and 3000 BC. Ceramic finds on Vosí vrch and in Dehtář date from the Young Bronze Age through the Hallstatt and Latène times to the early Middle Ages .

The first written mention of the village of Dehtars belonging to the Poděhusy Fortress took place on May 26, 1334, when King John of Luxembourg exchanged the village together with Žabovřesky and Radošovice for 720 shock groschen from Peter I von Rosenberg for the border castle Janovice . Subsequently, the village belonged to the possessions of the Lords of Rosenberg . Jost von Rosenberg pledged the village together with Radošovice to Peter Záleský von Prostý. Wok II von Rosenberg had the large fish pond of the same name built to the west of the village in 1484, with which the village of Hummo was flooded. In 1840 Dechtern / Dechtař, including the one-layer Heisko Mill to the east, consisted of 16 houses with 96 inhabitants. The parish was Pishtin . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Krumlov rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Dechtáře / Dechtern 1850 a district of the municipality Čakov in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. In 1914 there were 106 Czech-speaking residents in the village. In 1924 Dehtáře broke away from Čakov and formed its own community. During the German occupation in 1943 it was incorporated into Žabovřesky. This was lifted again in 1945 after the end of the Second World War. On March 1, 1961 Dehtáře was again incorporated into Žabovřesky. In 1991 Dehtáře had 38 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, 42 people lived in the town's 23 houses.
