Denys Wiktorowytsch Harmasch ( Ukrainian Денис Вікторович Гармаш , born April 19, 1990 in Milowe , Luhansk Oblast , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian football player . He is a universally deployable midfielder who was loaned from Dynamo Kiev to Turkish first division club Çaykur Rizespor for the second half of the 2019/2020 season and has also played for the Ukrainian national team since 2011 .

Career

In his youth Harmasch played for the clubs LWUFK Luhansk, Olimpik Donetsk and RWUFK Kiev. In 2007 he came to Dynamo Kiev where he was initially used in the third team. There he made his debut on April 10, 2007 in the 2-1 loss to Jednist Plysky . He quickly moved up to the second team. In the same year he was three times in the professional squad of Dynamo Kiev, but remained without use. In the second team, however, he came to regular missions in the Perscha Liha .

In 2009 Harmasch finally became a member of the professional team. On August 31, 2009 he played his first Premjer-Liha game: In the 3-1 win against Metalurh Donetsk , he was on the starting line-up, but was replaced at halftime for Andrij Shevchenko . In the 2009/2010 season Harmasch made three more appearances, but never for the entire season. His first Premjer Liha game over 90 minutes was the 2-1 away win at Metalist Kharkiv on July 23, 2010. In this game he also scored his first goal.

Harmasch has been a regular at Dynamo Kiev since the 2010/2011 season. In 2010 and 2011 he also played in the Champions League qualification and the Europa League . For the second half of the 2019/2020 season he was loaned to the Turkish first division club Çaykur Rizespor .

National team

Since 2007 Harmasch has been a member of several junior national teams in his home country. He made his debut in the U-21 team at the age of 17. In 2009 he took part in the U-19 European Championship , which Ukraine won as host. Harmasch was used in all five games. In the final he scored the opening goal against England after scoring two goals in the semifinals against Serbia.

Two years later Harmasch took part in the U-21 European Championship . However, Ukraine dropped out after the preliminary round. Harmasch was used in two of the three preliminary round matches. On October 7 of the same year he made his debut in the senior team in a 3-0 win against Bulgaria.

After four more appearances in friendly matches, Harmasch was also appointed to the Ukrainian squad for the 2012 European Championship . There he played in the last group game against England , showed a good performance and posed problems for his opponent Steven Gerrard . Nevertheless, Gerrard managed to prepare a goal through Wayne Rooney . It was the only goal of the game, so Ukraine lost 1-0 and were eliminated from the tournament.

He was also part of the Ukraine squad at the 2016 European Championship in France . He had his only appearance in the competition in the final quarter of an hour in the game against the Northern Irish national team on June 16, 2016, when his team were 1-0 down. That game was lost, as were the other two, and Ukraine was eliminated from the tournament.
