The master : A burglar king notorious under the name of the master has struck again. This time it hit Alice Frank's bank safe, and an extremely valuable pearl was stolen from the bank customer. Gentleman detective Stuart Webbs finds out that Lady Glane owns a very similar pearl. In order to set a trap for the thief and burglar, Webbs and Mrs. Frank appear as the Glane couple in public in order to lure him on both tracks. But the crook is not so easily fooled, but uses a disguise as Police Commissioner Brunn to lure Webbs into a trap. Then he also steals the cassette with Lady Glane's pearl. With the help of Mrs. Frank, who helps Webbs out of his embarrassment, the bad guys are caught.
The outlier : The intruders are interrogated, then the "master" of the police manages to escape. He flees to Alice Frank, whom he forces to cut his handcuffs. Then he pressures them with compromising letters that are in his possession. Webbs is able to get back on track and eventually discovers his apartment. In a heavy gun battle with revolvers, the "master" dies from a bullet fired by Webbs. However, Ms. Frank is also killed in the firefight. It turns out that she was his childhood sweetheart.

The master consisted of two parts: the master and the runaway . The double feature was censored on July 29th, 1920. In Germany the six-stroke engine was 1698 meters long, in Austria each part was announced to be 1000 meters long.
