The ninth season of the American animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from September 21, 1997 to May 17, 1998 on the US broadcaster Fox . The private broadcaster ProSieben broadcast the German-language first broadcast from October 7, 1998 to May 15, 2000.

The season was released on DVD on December 19, 2006 in the United States and March 5, 2007 in Germany.

A sergeant shows up during a surprise party and it turns out that Rector Skinner's real name is Armin Tamzarian - and that he has an eventful past in Capital City. The sergeant now takes over the post of rector. However, because nobody is satisfied with the new headmaster Skinner, everything is reversed later.

Bart accidentally burns the presents the night before Christmas and blames burglars. After a TV station reported the incident, viewers donated some gifts and a sum of $ 15,000. The Simpsons use the money to buy a car, which is destroyed in an accident a little later. So the Simpsons can't return the sum even after it turns out that Bart lied. So it happens that the donors themselves ensure justice by taking all the Simpsons possessions with them.

On the way to a UN model meeting, the bus with the children from Springfield crashes into the sea. You are stranded on a deserted island. They form a small community and fight to survive together. Meanwhile, Homer wants to set up a computer business over the Internet, which is later destroyed by Bill Gates .

However, Homer is caught doing it and ends up in jail. However, Moe doesn't want to help Homer. Renée thinks Moe is crazy and disappears. Moe sets fire to his own pub. Homer escapes from prison and sets up a pub with Moe in the Simpsons' house.

Grandpa Simpson says that Homer and Bart were also said to have been smart up to the age of nine. Meanwhile, old Jasper is freezing himself in the freezer in the Kwik-E store, only to be awakened in the future.
