The eighteenth season of the American animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from September 10, 2006 to May 20, 2007 on the US broadcaster Fox . The German-language free TV first broadcast was broadcast by ProSieben from September 9, 2007 to January 27, 2008.

The season was released on DVD on December 5, 2017 in the United States and December 11, 2017 in Germany.

After the school children have to be carpooled in Springfield, the Simpsons learn that Michael is the son of the mobster Fat Tony. When the Calabresis, members of a rival family, shoot Tony down, Michael is supposed to take over his father's Mafia business. However, he does not initially want to pursue his father's career, but rather become a chef, which his father does not like at all. At a meal he organized with the heads of the warring Mafia families, Michael poisoned them, so that he finally seems to be following his father's career.

When a tiger bites beard on the arm, his career seems to be over. The jazz musicians try to raise the money for the necessary operation with a benefit concert. However, Bart leaves the money to Lisa so that she can found a home for abandoned animals.

Homer enthusiastically buys the Great Carpentry Handbook , but does not read it. After reading it, Marge discovers her manual skills and does all the woodwork with flying colors. She wants to earn money with it, but fails because nobody wants to hire a female carpenter. Homer now appears in the foreground as a specialist and accepts the orders, while Marge does the work in secret. Marge is increasingly dissatisfied with her shadowy existence. Homer, who is now famous as a master carpenter, is now supposed to tell the public the truth, according to Marge. But because Homer refuses, Marge throws the job down insulted. Homer takes on the repair of Springfield's historic wooden roller coaster alone, which doesn't end well. Meanwhile, Bart takes advantage of Skinner's allergy to peanuts.

Married to the blob - Homer gets infected by an alien parasite after eating it and eats the people, causing it to grow more and more. A Golem for All Occasions - A golem appears in Springfield and listens to orders when you write them down for what the Simpsons want to use to their advantage. The day the earth was fooled - The Springfielders were put off by a radio show about aliens in 1938 and panic.

The US Army is trying to convince the children of Springfield Elementary School to report to the Army when they are 18. Bart signs a preliminary contract and proudly brings it home. Marge is appalled by this and sends Homer to the military office to undo this. Finally, Homer can be recruited. In a simulation, Homer should now be used as a training target.

When Lisa has to write an essay about interesting people in Springfield, she chooses Moe, discovers his literary talent and helps Moe write a poem. Moe is then invited to a writers' meeting in Vermont. When he denies that Lisa has helped him with his work, she decides not to help him anymore. Moe eventually fails when trying to write poetry alone.

Burns fires Homer for apparently more interested in the ice cream van outside than in work. The ice cream seller dies shortly afterwards and Homer takes over his job. Marge discovers her talent for making sculptures from the ice cream sticks that Homer brings her in abundance. She wants to open an exhibition in front of her own house, but Homer accidentally completely destroys it with the ice cream truck.

Nelson orders his classmates to come to his birthday party under threat of violence. Bart starts a conspiracy to ensure that no one goes to Nelson's party so that Nelsons can celebrate his birthday alone. However, Marge demands that Bart not leave Nelson alone. Bart and Nelson finally celebrate the party together and become good friends.

Gil, used as Santa Claus in the supermarket, gives Lisa the last Malibu Stacy doll that has not yet been sold , which the daughter of Gil's boss was supposed to receive. Therefore he is fired shortly afterwards. The Simpsons then invite him to dinner. Gil's visit drags on and on and he becomes an unwelcome roommate.

When Marge sees an old vacation video in an outdoor cinema, she remembers her childhood and the great holidays in Barnacle Bay. When she and her family go there, however, she notices that what is now Barnacle Bay has been badly run down and has nothing to do with her beautiful childhood memories. The cause is the disappearance of the yum yum fish as a result of overfishing , which formerly provided tourists and thus prosperity on the island. After Homer burns down the local jetty at fireworks which Marge is supposed to remind of her childhood, he is supposed to pay his debts by going fishing. On the high seas, he succeeds in catching the yum yum fish for the first time in years. Bart also sneaked on the ship because Marge and Lisa wanted to visit a museum. In a storm, the ship capsizes and there is a funeral for the missing people on the ship. At the funeral, Homer, Bart and the rest of the sailors appear surprised and tell that they were found by a Japanese fishing boat. When the villagers learn that the Yum Yum fish has reappeared, they all want to go fishing. Lisa warns them, however, that they would over-fish the sea again and refrains from doing so. As a result, however, the islanders begin to cut down their trees.

After the Simpsons' car is cut from that of the rich Texan, Homer immediately seeks revenge. The family then tries to explain to him the effects that revenge can have on those who practice it. Three short stories follow, all about revenge. They are about the Count of Monte Christo , Milhouse, who uses a high-tech glove to take revenge on his classmates, and Batman.

Bart saves the city and gets a driver's license for it. He goes to another town and meets an older girl named Darcy. The two go out together. Meanwhile, Lisa is supposed to give a lecture about her origins at school. As Lisa is ashamed of her ancestors, she deceives an Indian ancestry. She's even supposed to give a speech about it at Springfield's Multicultural Day.

Documentary filmmaker Declan Desmond is making a long-term documentary about some of Springfield's residents. The Simpsons are housed in the Burns summer home. Homer pretends to be a millionaire by now, but gets a lot of questions from the suspicious Declan. Finally, the dizziness is exposed when Burns returns.

After a mishap, the Simpsons' photo album was destroyed and Marge decides to restore all of the photos. In the recreated photos, the background reveals a celebrity scandal. As a result, Homer becomes the highest- traded paparazzo in Springfield. However, the humiliated celebrities no longer want to put up with this.

Marge goes online and takes part in an online role-playing game that features almost every jumping fielder. Bart is also represented in this game and is considered the best player there. Initially, he runs the games on behalf of Lisa. But when she took advantage of it, he finally showed her the red card after she was constantly noticed by faked fouls .

When Reverend Lovejoy is dissatisfied with a mattress Homer has sold because it has not had a positive effect on his love life, Homer swaps his own mattress in his bedroom with Lovejoy's. However, this now has a negative effect on Homer and Marge's love life. They both decide to break into the Lovejoys and steal back the old mattress.

Homer accidentally promotes all of Springfield's firefighters to the hospital, forcing himself to become a firefighter himself. Together with Apu, Moe and Skinner, he extinguishes some fires and receives rewards from the people involved. However, when Mr. Burns abandons them after they have saved his life without any reward, Moe is forced to steal from him. They also take their "prey" during the subsequent missions, which Skinner does not like. Meanwhile, Maggie goes crazy when Marge follows advice from Parenting Magazine and takes the pacifier away from her.

After the stressed dog bites his beard, he gets a snake as a new pet. Bart takes the snake to school, where it causes a catastrophe in the chemistry lab. Knecht Ruprecht saves Bart from the poisonous gases and returns to the Simpsons.

In the elementary school of Springfield a Counter Truancy Unit (in the German version: Chaoten Battleship Unit) is set up, an organization that takes action against truants. Bart (≙ Jack Bauer) and Lisa (≙ Chloe O'Brian) want to stop the thugs from dropping a stink bomb in the school cafeteria . The "real" Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian have a cameo.

Because Kent Brockman cursed during the show, the station is fined heavily. Kent Brockman is fired while some shows are slashed. With Lisa's help, he starts a news broadcast on the Internet. Because of the unpleasant truths of the government and the broadcaster, and the success of the show, Kent is recruited for his old job with a raise.
