action

Stimulated by a bad comic strip in the newspaper, the clumsy family man Peter begins to publish his own comic strip "For Pete's Sake". However, his comics soon start to become sexist and misogynistic. This leads to an uprising against the Griffin family, forcing them to leave town.

During a refueling stop, the Griffins' car is stolen and they find themselves in the town of Springfield. They get to know the Simpson family, who offer to stay with them for the time being. After an unsuccessful visit to the police, Peter and Homer decide to find the stolen car themselves.

During the time together, the families get closer, try to learn from each other and help each other. After a while, Peter and Homer find the stolen car. As a thank you, Peter offers Homer a bottle of his favorite beer, Pawtucket Paytriot Ale , but Homer reveals it to be a copy of his favorite beer , Duff , which ends in a lawsuit in favor of Duff.

On departure, a fight breaks out between Peter and Homer, which is similar to the "cock fights" known from Family Guy. After the fight, Peter and Homer make up on the condition that they will go their separate ways from now on.

When the Griffins are reunited in Quohog, Stewie as Brian asks him if he misses Bart, whereupon he goes into his room and, as in the Simpsons intro, writes the sentence "I will no longer think about Bart" on a blackboard.

reception

After Fox announced it would produce a crossover episode of The Simpsons and Family Guy , fans had high expectations for the episode. According to Nina Rehfeld, author of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , expectations were met. Rehfeld even said that by bringing the "Fox series into a showdown, [...] one of the television events of the year" was expected. The author praised the episode, the “[with] clever [n] self-referentiality [...] the facets of the supposed 'feud' between the shows [declined,] to finally in an extended, [...] ridiculously exaggerated, eight To culminate a battle between Homer and Peter that lasted minutes ”.

On the other hand, a scene was controversial in which the family children Bart ( The Simpsons) and Stewie ( Family Guy ) make a joke call to the tavern operator Moe ( The Simpsons ): After Bart first calls and makes fun of Moe's digestion, Stewie calls him too and says: "Moe, your sister is raped!". Rehfeld thinks that the "often perceived difference between the series" is pointed out. Tim Winter, president of the US parent organization Parents Television Council , found the punch line inappropriate and asked makers Matt Groening ( The Simpsons ) and Seth MacFarlane ( Family Guy ) to cancel the scene.
