Gameplay
The Simpsons - The game is a platforming game. The aim of the 16 levels is to reach the end and defeat opponents. Five characters are playable: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Usually two characters play in one level. The characters have their own superpowers. Once Homer has eaten enough, he can shape himself into a ball or into an acid-spitting blob; Marge can form a mob and carries Maggie with her; Bart has a slingshot and can use his cape to float through the air; Lisa uses the "hand of the Buddha " to pull up trees and similar things and move them. Sequences that were specially developed for the game are played between the levels.
Many video games are parodied. The “pet homer” that the player has to look after is a parody of Nintendogs . Pokémon- style battles must also be mastered by the player.
action
The game begins with a dream about Homer in which he fights chocolate bunnies. Bart later finds a video game manual. It belongs to the "Simpsons game". So he finds out that they are characters in a video game and that they have super powers. Homer and Bart use their powers and break into the Springfield Museum , where they catch Director Skinner stealing. Then Homer takes part in a competition and wins thanks to his powers. Lisa, in turn, uses her powers to destroy the lumberjack factory together with her brother. A violent video game, Grand Theft Scratchy (a parody of Grand Theft Auto ) has also been released. Marge founds a crowd and demonstrated against the game, with success. Now the real action begins: The aliens Kang and Kodos start an alien invasion. The Simpsons realize they have to save Springfield. To get upgrades of their superpowers, Bart and Lisa visit Professor Frink. Since he is not in his laboratory, they use a dimensional portal that beams them into a game factory. There they find Frink who gives them the Simpsons game guide. At home, the Simpsons use the Internet to continue cheating - but a Homer mishap beamed them back into the game machine. In this game machine is Will Wright who is disposing of old video games, the Simpsons salvage an old 8-bit Simpsons game. The 8-bit Simpsons advise the modern day Simpsons to go to the house of the "Creator" Matt Groening , to do which they must collect four key cards in old games. In a Lord of the Rings parody, for example, Homer and Marge have to fight a dragon to get a key card. Eventually they enter the home of Matt Groening, their creator, and fight there against his lawyers and Futurama characters . Then they confront him - but Groening flees and triggers the "video game self-destruction". The video game characters flee to Springfield, where Lisa uses her "Hand of Buddha" to build a staircase to heaven so that the Simpsons can speak to God because the aliens are still destroying the city. In the end, God explains to them that the "Simpsons Game" is just a mini-game in his "Earth Game".
