The 23rd season of the American animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from September 25, 2011 to May 20, 2012 on the US broadcaster Fox . It was announced by Fox television in early November 2010. It also contains the anniversary episode 500 as well as the resolution of the online vote on whether Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel ( Nedna ) will stay together. The German-language first broadcast was shown on ProSieben between August 2012 and March 2013 .

Homer meets new employee Wayne at the nuclear power plant. Wayne has no friends and does not want to make friends with Homer, which bothers Homer. One evening on his way home from the nuclear power plant, Homer persuades Wayne to take him to Moe's bar for a beer in his car. Once there, Moe is attacked by Snake . Wayne overwhelms Snake. He is then invited to dinner with the Simpsons. It turns out that he was specially trained for combat. The next day, news that Wayne had stopped a robbery spread widely and Kent Brockman reported on it, showing an exaggerated Taiwanese computer animation. It is learned that Wayne is a former CIA agent. When Mr. Burns tries to give him the Silver Safety Helmet for his work, Wayne flashes back on his time as an agent and accidentally beats Burns up. He is then terminated; Homer offers to stay with him as long as he has no job. Wayne spends the night in the tree house but is still plagued with nightmares and memories of his time as an agent. He teaches the kids combat tactics he learned at the CIA. Another flashback almost makes him shoot Lisa. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian crime boss sees the video of Wayne's runaway at the nuclear power plant and recognizes him as the man responsible for his wife's death. He comes to Springfield and takes Homer hostage to set a trap for Wayne. As expected, Homer tries to free Homer from an ice rink where he is being held. When Wayne is caught, it happens by chance that Homer disarms the crime boss. Wayne kills him on it. He decides to leave Springfield, but Marge stops him and suggests that he work at the Springfield Drivers Licensing Authority, which the latter does.

At the end of the episode it turns out that the audience voted for Nedna and that Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel are a couple.

High School Councilor Chalmers is supposed to teach in place of Skinner Bart. He enthuses him for the American President Theodore Roosevelt . Chalmers takes a few other boys from the school on a trip to introduce them to Roosevelt, and Nelson injures himself in the process. When his mother threatens to sue the school, Chalmers is fired. Bart and the other boys teamed up and occupied the elementary school so that Chalmers could be reinstated. Ultimately, Chalmers gets his job back and the occupation of the school is canceled.
