The seventeenth season of the US animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from September 11, 2005 to May 21, 2006 on the US broadcaster Fox . The German-language free TV first broadcast was broadcast by ProSieben from September 3, 2006 to April 8, 2007.

The season was released on December 2, 2014 in the United States and December 1, 2014 in Germany on DVD and Blu-ray.

Because Homer allows the Mafia to shoot an intimate film without Marge's permission, she leaves him and meets a marine biologist named Caleb. She joins him to save manatees . Homer goes looking for Marge with the children and finally finds her. To win them back, he tries to protect some manatees from aggressive jet skis.

Note : This is the last episode in which Marge Simpson was dubbed by Elisabeth Volkmann .

During a cave exploration, Homer gets stuck and while Bart and Marge seek help, Lisa tells him a story: Mr. Burns lost his property to the wealthy Texan and had to work for Moe. He had an affair with Mrs. Krabappel and previously stole a pot of gold from Snake. Mrs. Krabappel then became a teacher, while Mr. Burns' pot of gold was stolen. Finally, the characters from the story appear in the cave where the gold treasure was hidden. A duel ensues until Marge throws the pot of gold into a crack.

Marge takes care of Ned's children and therefore has no more time for her own. Bart is later kidnapped by a chimpanzee mother who later escapes with him to the top of a church tower. Lisa finally manages to swap the monkey's real son for Bart.

Patty and Selma kidnap actor Richard Dean Anderson at a Stargate convention while visiting Springfield. He finds a pleasure in being able to free himself every time , as in the TV series MacGyver . Meanwhile, Mr. Burns relies on outsourcing and moves the power plant to India, where Homer is promoted to boss. Homer settles in splendidly in India and finally proclaims himself a god.

However, life among all the boys is more difficult than she could have imagined. With Bart's help, Lisa can finally assert herself. After Lisa wins a math competition, she reveals her true identity to show that girls can also do math.

During a visit to a museum, Ned Flanders is confronted with Darwin's theory of biological evolution . He takes action against it for reasons of faith. Finally, the city council decided to introduce the Christian doctrine of creation alongside the theory of evolution as a compulsory subject in school. When Lisa protests against this, however, it happens that the theory of creation is now included in the school curriculum as the only true theory of the origin of man. Lisa doesn't want to give up and ends up in court. In this case, it's about God versus Lisa Simpson .

At the Springfield Isotopes baseball team, star Buck Mitchell is in crisis due to difficulties in his marriage. On the big screen in the stadium, Mitchel sees Marge and Homer kiss deeply. He thinks the two of them could give him some good marriage counseling. Marriage counseling actually seems to be working fine until Homer makes a mistake.
